"To Do -- or Not To Do"

The other day I was at school and I ran into a kid that is in one of my classes -- we both had an hour to kill before our next class, and decided to eat our breakfast together. He was a very interesting individual, very well read, easy on the eyes (a Mark Wahlberg but dirty-blonde).

He told me how he goes to church to make his dad happy, 2 Sundays a month, and there is a lot about the church that he likes, but some that he doesn't. He talked about how he believes in science, and if he doesn't feel like something is wrong (drinking coffee as an example we talked about) then he still does it even if someone says not to. His argument was that just because a person says to not do something, and I personally don't think it is wrong...then why should I just not do it because someone said not to. He talked about his disbelief in the bible, but how he thinks the Book Of Mormon is a great book, but doesn't believe in the Doctrine and Covenants. He says that Joseph Smith just decided to write another book and make a religion based on the Book Of Mormon....well yeah! God said to! Joseph did what he was commanded to do by God!

There was so much more he talked about, and in a lot more depth than what I have covered, and his words were more educated than when rephrasing -- but the whole point of me writing this is because I have a testimony in God, and in the prophet. God is the Almighty. He has the bigger picture for us, and would only tell us to do things that would be of benefit to us. He has commanded prophets to lead the church and be His mouthpiece...why even question it. If you have felt the spirit before, you should not deny it. If someone you trust, and believe to be a messenger of God says something is not up to the eternal par, and you don't do it just to be safe in case God did command you not to do so, and it isn't harming you or others to not do it -- why not be safe and not do it?

When we pass on and cross through the veil, most of us probably do not want God to say, "You were told not to do this, but you did anyway, why did you disobey me?" I don't think anyone of us want Heavenly Father to be disappointed at us, he already has to talk to us about the mistakes we obliviously make...why add to the list intentionally?)
